When a monster is flying, the monster ability card shows the "flying wings" icon for movement rather than the usual "boot".Monsters with ranged attacks always specify the range, so it can't be forgotten and doesn't need to be looked up.Monster abilities report the numbers to use, so there is no math or stat lookup ( Attack 3 instead of Attack + 1).Rows are sorted using the initiative order, making it clear who is next.Devices running Gloomhaven Helper can be synchronized over the network so each player can view and change the game state from their own personal device.the element infusion board, element discs, and round trackerīesides making setup easier, Gloomhaven Helper also improves play in many new ways:.Gloomhaven Helper eliminates the need for the following Gloomhaven components: The Forgotten Circles and Jaws of the Lion expansions are also supported. Playing the game becomes faster, as does setup and tear down. It tracks initiative, monsters, and characters so you can focus on playing the game rather than bookkeeping. Gloomhaven Helper iswas the officially licensed companion application for playing the Gloomhaven board game, without losing the board game feel. Thanks to everyone who took the time to show their awesome game/screen setups and to send positive feedback, it has brightened many of my days. For years I've gotten little positive reminders throughout the day in the form of new app review notifications. While I'm sad that my app won't be available anymore, I've taken great pride in seeing so many people enjoy my work during the time it had. Isaac could have taken over my app for Frosthaven or let other developers do so (one had already added Frosthaven support!) but he chose to kill it instead, without a word about a better solution. The app could be useful without art, but not without card text. Without any discussion, Isaac demanded that I remove his game's art and card text.
GLOOM HAVEN FREE
Later, I declined (and had never agreed to) building an app for Frosthaven – I just didn't have the free time to double my effort. I paid him and continued to improve and support my app so his players could have a high quality app for his game. In response, Isaac added licensing terms retroactively and required I pay 10% of net sales to use his game's art and card text. Desktop and web remained free, but I charged for iOS and to remove ads on Android.

After adding 2 expansions, 12 languages, and supporting over 150,000 users, I felt it was reasonable to be compensated to continue the effort.

I built it for fun and gave it away free for more than a year. It wasn't a concern since I didn't intend to sell the app. When I built the app I used assets that Isaac Childres, the Gloomhaven author, provided without licensing terms. These are factual accounts of the events, not opinions. I feel that I owe it to my users to explain why the app is now gone. Users who previously purchased the app may continue to use it.

The app has been removed from the Apple and Google app stores. All distribution of the app is now prohibited, including any modified versions of the app. Gloomhaven Helper is no longer available.
